The History of Oz

August 3 @ 8:00 pm - 10:45 pm

$5

Calling all Wizard of Oz fans! Join the Salem Witch Museum for a night of Oz fun as we discuss how L. Frank Baum’s classic children’s story was reinterpreted and re-imagined into the major motion picture that has captivated audiences for nearly 80 years. This film has influenced the twentieth-century conception of witchcraft since its release, leaving lasting tropes and archetypes in its wake! A brief lecture will touch on subjects ranging from the original concept created in the early twentieth-century by L. Frank Baum, to the fascinating, and at times tragic, stories of the now beloved actors who brought this film to life. The 30 minute lecture will be immediately followed by a screening of the film.

Tickets will be sold at the door at $5 per person, however we will be offering free admission to anyone dressed in a Wizard of Oz costume!
