Looking for a memorable, educational, and FUN activity for your child during your trip to Salem? Check out the North Shore Children’s Museum just down the road in Peabody, MA. Located at 10 Main Street, NSCM is a quick 10-minute drive from downtown Salem. The museum opened in October 2022, and boasts 15 unique exhibit spaces, each with their own theme. Explore topography with the interactive sand table. Create unique works of art in the Makerspace. Direct a launch in the immersive outer space room. Design a pattern or image on the giant light bright. There’s so much to discover!

NSCM strives to create inclusive, welcoming spaces and learning experiences that use the power of play to nurture the imagination, engage families, and strengthen the community. Each room has been thoughtfully designed with both fun and education in mind. NSCM believes “everything starts with play.” Research shows that learning through play builds brain development, develops holistic skills, and even helps to bridge gaps in early education created by inequity.

The North Shore Children’s Museum offers a variety of enrichment programs each week, most free with admission. Throughout the month you can attend yoga, music and movement, silly story time, and STEAM club along with at least one extra special program. You can find a monthly program calendar on their website, nschildrensmuseum.org and on their Facebook and Instagram feeds. (@nschildrensmuseum)

The museum is currently open Wednesdays – Sundays. Tickets are timed for their different play sessions. Regular price admission is $12 for both adults and children, infants under 12 months are free. Guests with EBT/WIC cards or equivalent enjoy $3 admission as part of their mission to increase access for all children, supported by generous sponsors. Local visitors are encouraged to check with their library, as there are currently 22 libraries on the north shore and beyond participating in the library pass program, allowing visitors to reserve that day’s pass for a discount.
