Experience Witch Pix, Salem’s Premier Witch Costume Photo Studio

Witch Pix, Salem’s premier witch costume studio, is the ultimate photography experience allowing you to step into the glamorous side of being a witch. With new theatrical sets, including Olde Salem Village, set in fall of 1692, Witch Cottage, with everything you need to cast a spell, or the classic and family friendly Magick Avenue, there is always something new to discover and capture in photos at Witch Pix.

Please note, using your own camera/phone for photos is not allowed at Witch Pix. We had permission to snap these behind the scenes shots for this post.

During COVID-19, Witch Pix has your safety (and the safety of their staff) at top of mind. Costumes are all individually sanitized after each use, so what’s on the rack and what you’ll be wearing are perfectly clean and ready to go! Visit their website for additional information ahead of your visit.

We recently participated in a photoshoot at Witch Pix to check out the studio’s newest costumes and sets, and while we had a great time, we’ll let the photos speak for themselves:

Before your photoshoot

Review available packages online. Witch Pix was recently remodeled with new handmade sets in addition to their original backdrops. New elements are added depending on the time of year, and other times (like during Salem Haunted Happenings), certain sets may book up well in advance.

Make a reservation, especially if you are visiting with a larger group (though 8 is the max during COVID), are visiting during Salem’s peak tourism season in October, or just want to ensure that you’ll have your shoot booked while you’re in town.

Wear something light and comfortable or with layers (this is good advice for touring Salem or any New England city anyway as the weather can vary). All of the costumes at Witch Pix are worn over your clothes, so wearing something like a tank top as opposed to a bulky long sleeve shirt, will make it easier to find something that would work well for photos.

During the shoot

Get into character. Witch Pix has lots of brand new costumes inspired by everything from Hocus Pocus to Victorian fashion statements, and you’ll find there is a combination of costumes, hats, and capes offering something for everyone. Let the Witch Pix team know when you arrive if you have a certain look in mind for your shoot and they’ll be sure to help you find all the right pieces.

Smile! …or don’t. You don’t need to be a professional model to have a blast at Witch Pix– Channeling your inner witch is easy with photographers on hand who are great at giving direction and letting you know how to pose, where to look, and when to smile, cackle, or something more serious.

After your visit

Share your photos! Photos from Witch Pix are perfect for dressing up your Instagram and can be fun to share with friends and family (if you’re planning a winter visit to Salem, consider shooting your Christmas card photos at Witch Pix). If you’re sharing your photos on social, be sure to tag us (@destsalem) and Witch Pix (@witchpix).

Tell a friend or leave a positive review. Salem’s small businesses all appreciate positive reviews (Google, Facebook, TripAdvisor, or anywhere else). Positive reviews helps more people find our businesses while they’re planning their trips to Salem, so if you loved your experience and think others would too, be sure to share your thoughts.

In addition to office outings, Witch Pix is great for bridal parties and bachelorettes, families, couples, and just about anyone looking to immerse themselves into Witch City in a whole new way. For repeat visitors to Salem, Witch Pix would also make a wonderful tradition as you could try something new with different sets and costumes during each visit.
