PEM and a food truck

Parking Options for #newPEM & Food Trucks, September 28-29

The final weekend of September 2019 will feature both the grand opening of the much-anticipated expansion of the Peabody Essex Museum and, just one block east, the Salem Food Truck and Craft Beer Festival. These two events combined with visitors choosing the weekend prior to Salem Haunted Happenings for their trip to Salem promise to make the end of September one of the busier times of the year.

Visitors are encouraged to consider public transportation, including the MBTA Commuter Rail and Boston Harbor Cruises’ Salem Ferry, and to plan a parking strategy before arriving. The centrally located Museum Place Garage at 1 New Liberty Street is expected to fill up early in the day, making one of Salem’s other parking lots or garages a logical second choice.

To celebrate the opening of their expansion, the Peabody Essex Museum will offer free admission on Saturday and Sunday, September 28 and 29. Featuring 40,000 square feet of space that includes three new floors of dedicated gallery space, a light-filled atrium and a welcoming entrance for school and group tours, as well as a new 5,000-square-foot-garden with unique water features and plantings, the #newPEM will be an exciting destination for both locals and visitors.

The Salem Food Truck and Craft Beer Festival will feature more than 40 food trucks, a craft beer garden, and vendors on Salem Common. The fourth Salem Food Truck Festival, and the first one produced by Food Truck Festivals of America, this is anticipated to be the biggest Salem Food Truck Festival yet. Admission is free.

Visitors to Salem are encouraged to “see something, say something.” Backpacks and large bags are discouraged, clear backpacks or clear bags are encouraged.
