If you are in the mood to kick back and relax, you can take a ride on the Salem Trolley beginning on April 1st. Starting next to the Salem Armory Regional Visitor Center, the trolley will take you on a ride through Salem’s rich history pointing out notable landmarks and attractions. If you find yourself in Salem in the late Spring plan on taking a Harbor Tour with Mahi Mahi Cruises or the Schooner Fame. Smell the Roses
Spring is a time of bloom and rebirth with local gardens beginning to sprout multicolored blossoms. If you are looking to enjoy the fresh air and take in the early foliage and flowers around town stop by the House of the Seven Gables for a stroll through their grounds. Grounds Passes through April 30th are only $6 per person, and then increase to $12 from May 1st through September 30th. You can take an up close look of the Salem Harbor and Derby Lighthouse as well as peek at some early Spring tulip bulbs poking through their raised garden beds. Another option if you are looking to stoke your green thumb is the Ropes Mansion Garden which is open year round to the public. The gardens are free to walk through and explore, and boast nearly 5,000 flowers that are planted annually by the garden volunteers. The property is owned by the Peabody Essex Museum, who have also created a free audio tour for the property as a part of their PemWalks episodes.
