Join The Gables and History Alive, Inc. as they present an audience-immersive production of Nathaniel Hawthorne’s classic novel, The Scarlet Letter. Walk with the author as he envisions his new story, surrounded by the townspeople and characters of his imagination.

An immersive Scarlet Letter will take place at the House of the Seven Gables on August 5th, 6th, and 7th, with History Alive Salem. The show will start at 6:30 pm and will tell the captivating story through performance of the Scarlet Letter.

History Alive makes original, interactive theatre and events about local, true stories from the past. This interpretation of the novel is narrated interactively by Nathaniel Hawthorne himself. The audience is endowed with the role of trusted confidant–perhaps Hawthorne’s friends from Bowdoin or other respected contemporaries The audience is seeing the vibrant ideas in Hawthorne’s imagination fully costumed and acted by our performers.
