Jim McAllister Presents Not Just Pretty Faces A “Pop-Up” Lecture

In honor of Women’s History Month, Jim McAllister will explore the relationship of many notable woman – abolitionists, artists, authors, actresses, an aviatrix and others – to Salem.
Included are artists Martha Silsbee, Fidelia Bridges and Louisa Landers, opera star Mary Curtis Verna, abolitionists Nancy and Sarah Remond, antiquarian-author Mary Northend, educator Charlotte Forten, preservationists Caroline Emmerton and Louise DuPont Crowninshield, and even the internationally acclaimed French actress Sarah Bernhardt. And, of course our very own Peabody sisters!
The talk will begin at 5:30 pm and will be held in the Lower Level Library at Salem’s historic Hawthorne Hotel. Admission is $15. Reservations can be made by e-mail at firstname.lastname@example.org or text 978.979.5907.
Program attendees are eligible for a 20% discount on appetizers, meals, and desserts (beverages excluded) in the Hawthorne Hotel’s Nathaniel’s Restaurant which now features the same “European-flair” menu as the Hawthorne’s Tavern on the Green.
