The Moth StorySlam
March 14 @ 6:30 pm
You are invited to take the stage — or sit back and listen — to a live PEM StorySLAM from The Moth. This community-focused, open-mic storytelling competition encourages anyone to share a five-minute tale on an identified theme. Ten lucky audience members, picked at random, vie for the chance to be crowned the night’s StorySLAM champion.
The Moth is true stories, told live and without notes. Based in New York City, the nonprofit celebrates the ability of true, personal storytelling to illuminate both the diversity and commonality of human experience. Their work allows people from all walks of life — astronauts, students, a dental hygienist, a hot-dog eating champion, a mechanic, exonerated prisoners, veterans, Nobel laureates and everyone in between — to share their stories on stage in front of an audience. Through live shows, storytelling workshops, a podcast, Peabody Award-winning Radio Hour, and New York Times best-selling books, The Moth brings the power of personal storytelling to millions of people each year — creating community and building empathy around the world.
Made possible in part by The George Swinnerton Parker Memorial Lecture Fund.
