Your journey for all of your Witch City Walking Tour experiences begins at the Old Town Hall located at Derby Square. Derby Square is a short walk from the Destination Salem Visitor Information Center, where you can use the public restrooms open from 9am – 8pm daily before your tour, which is recommended. For most of the year, Witch City Walking Tours recommends arriving in Salem 30 minutes prior to your tour, but in October guests should plan to arrive two hours in advance if they are driving, and an hour if you are using the MBTA public transportation system which is advised. Arriving by commuter rail you will be greeted by large Witch City Walking Tours posters, assuring you that you are in the right place.

There are four year round tours that cover a variety of topics: the History and Hauntings tour, Mystery & Murders tour, Merchants & Mansions Architecture Stroll, and a Hocus Pocus Movie Locations Tours. In addition to their wonderful selection of static yearly tours they also have limited edition pop-up tours that cover categories such as the Spirits, Sinners & Scandals Adulteress Tour, and the Pop Salem Pop Culture Walking Tour. Each tour will provide you with a different experience as you stroll through the streets of Salem, MA taking in the crisp fall air and vibrant autumnal foliage.

The wonderful aspect about Witch City Walking Tours is how eclectic both their content and tour guides are. They truly are a company dedicated to the local community and the magnification of Salem’s rich history. Each month the company chooses a local Salem non-profit and donates a portion of their sales to them to empower other local business owners and grass-root organizations. Not only do they spread the love through their local philanthropic efforts, but they also keep their tour content fresh with new pop-up tours and collaborations happening seasonally. One of their newest installments, the PopSalem! A Pop Culture Walking Tour installment which runs through the month of November is a great example of this. The tour delves into how Salem, MA became the Witch City and Capitol of Halloween. The tours will take through content ranging from local lore and witchcraft to Lovecraft and Salem, MA’s deep literary history.
