This summer, The House of the Seven Gables invites you to their third annual Fusion Fest! This lively celebration on Sunday, August 10, from 12 to 5 P.M., is packed with live music and dance, art, food trucks, lawn games, and more. Entry is free and open to the public.

The House of the Seven Gables Settlement Association was founded in 1910 to assist newly arriving immigrants to become successful here in the United States. While the groups arriving in Salem have changed over the years, The Gables’ drive to provide guidance and education has not.

Fusion Fest is a special day to celebrate the backgrounds and cultures of students enrolled in the English Language and Citizenship Preparation classes at The House of the Seven Gables. These individuals help make Salem a diverse and colorful city. Fusion Fest is meant to engage, entertain, and shed light on the region’s varied cultural contributions. Among the day’s festivities:
1:00 P.M. Interactive Haitian Dance with Kerence Pierre
2:00 P.M. Welcome from Mayor Dominick Pangallo + Cuban salsa from Boston Casineros
3:00 P.M. Music from the pan-Latin ensemble Sol Y Canto
4:00 P.M. Latin music and dancing from the Luna Latin Jazz Combo

Attendees can also enjoy games, crafts, and a community art project led by artist Keysi De Los Santos. Food will be available to purchase throughout the day from Bocadillos Empanadas, Holy Cow, and Sabrosa Venezuela. Guided tours of The House of the Seven Gables will be offered all day for a fee, with proceeds going to local charities providing immigrant support. Free Spanish language tours will also be offered throughout the day.

Fusion Fest is more than a gathering, and more than a festive Sunday on The Gables’ legendary lawn. It’s a real merging of cultures, community, and arts. Among the countries represented at Fusion Fest are Argentina, Brazil, Chile, China, Colombia, Cuba, Dominican Republic, El Salvador, Guatemala, Honduras, Haiti, Italy, Mexico, Paraguay, Peru, Puerto Rico, Spain, and Ukraine.
