Spring has sprung and summer is just around the corner. It’s the perfect time to shake off the winter blues with the shops on Artists’ Row at our season grand opening Market Day Launch Party!
On Saturday, May 6, 2023, Artists’ Row will come alive with activity for all ages. Starting at 10 AM visitors can meet local artists in their ‘natural habitat’, participate in free hands-on art making activities, sign up for workshops, listen to live tunes, grab a bite to eat, and even do a bit of shopping.
Those looking for whimsical upcycled gear and creative custom work should go no further than Shindig! Studios, a unique immersive pop culture shopping experience.
Another familiar stall to visit is ChagallPAC, an interdisciplinary art studio and gallery space. As part of this event ChagallPAC will showcase free performances outside of their studio with Nada Brahma Kirtan at 1 pm and cellist Gil Selinger at 6 PM.

This floral power duo will be generating experiences, installations, goods, workshops, and more and visitors are strongly encouraged to pop in and see what this new studio has to offer.
Also new to Artists’ Row is the 2023 Public Artist in Residence, Claudia Paraschiv, who will be working to create the Tree of Care + Wonder / Árbol del Cuidado + del Maravillas, a large-scale sculpture of a whimsical tree featuring migrant stories and a magical canopy! This communally crafted piece will transform the streets in Salem into community spaces of art and friendship while, throughout the year, local artists (poets, visual, musicians, dance, and theatre) will collaborate to produce civic-art events centered on migration stories, food memories, local history, and novel visions of how a future city might take care of and bring wonder to its residents. While the kickoff is on May 6th, Claudia will be offering free events and workshops that are accessible to people of all abilities from May to September.
After your exploration of all the wonders the talented tenants of Artists’ Row have to offer, those seeking some much-needed refreshment are invited to pop over to The Lobster Shanty, the Row’s very own cult-classic watering hole for a bite and a pint!
