At 7:15 Opening Ceremonies will begin with the Hillyer Festival Orchestra Concert spanning two hours and including a ‘POPS’ concert by their forty-piece ensemble with vocal soloists performing opera to Broadway favorites. Nathaniel Hawthorne: America’s First Goth

The Satanic Temple’s philosophy is heavily influenced by the time in history when the enlightenment era transitioned into the romantic era during the 1800s. The literature of the time is also an important influence to the modern gothic subculture as well. This presentation explores the life of the first goth in United States history – Nathaniel Hawthorne. On his birthday – punch and pie. Tickets on satanictours.com

Join us at The House of the Seven Gables for a lovely evening as we celebrate the country and Nathaniel Hawthorne’s birthday. With the best view of the fireworks in town, The Gables is the ideal spot for July 4th. Bring a picnic, blanket and chairs, and relax on the seaside lawn. There will be lawn games, music, and the traditional cutting of Nathaniel Hawthorne’s birthday cake. Nathaniel Hawthorne will be there in-person– and you may have a chance to win a prize if you can answer his American history trivia game! This event is free to all Gables members. Member guest tickets are $15 each. To become a member, visit 7gables.org/membership
