Hamilton Hall

Hamilton Hall is a 220-year-old assembly hall with a fascinating history of famous visitors, festive balls, and sumptuous dinners. Still an active event hall, it’s a perfect place to visit for a glimpse of Salem’s past and present. We invite you to join us for a special, guided tour of all three floors to discover the merchants, dignitaries, activists, and entrepreneurs whose stories have played out within these walls.

Twirl in the ballroom to test out its nineteenth-century sprung floor. View architect Samuel McIntire’s hand-carved wooden eagle that originally gazed down on passersby from the top of the Hall. Stand next to the hearth where Black entrepreneurs and activists John and Nancy Remond once cooked their multi-course feasts. Discover their children, Charles Lenox and Sarah Parker Remond, who became internationally famous speakers and activists for abolition and women’s suffrage.
