NPS Visitor Center Reopens Thanks to Local Collaboration

Even in a federal shutdown, Salem shows up.

The NPS Salem Armory Regional Visitor Center is now open, with information and restrooms available for visitors. This reopening was made possible through the tireless coordination of the City of Salem and the leadership of Essex Heritage working together with the Salem Maritime National Historical Park and Eastern National.

The reopening is funded by The Salem Witch Museum, The Salem Wax Museum, the Peabody Essex MuseumEastern National, Creative Collective, and Destination Salem. The National Park Service Visitor Center will be open 7 days a week from 9:30-4:30.

This funding will keep the NPS Visitor Center open until November 2 or until the lapse in appropriations ends, whichever comes first.

We want to recognize the extraordinary collaboration that made this happen. Salem steps up time and time again—to protect our businesses, our visitors, and our residents.

With the Central Wharf and Artists Row bathrooms open as well, there’s no reduction in restroom or visitor information access for our guests this season. Information on all public restrooms can be found quickly on the Destination Salem app.

With gratitude,

Ashley and the Destination Salem Team
